A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Town Hall Meeting
June 21, 2017
Video continues to contribute value to the workplace in new ways every day. That’s not exactly news anymore; especially to those of us who have the privilege of watching some of the largest companies in the world adopt enterprise video communication and collaboration platforms.
Last week, I had the opportunity to speak with a Senior IS Business Analyst from a Genus customer, one of the nation’s leading insurers. My goal was to put the finishing touches on a customer success story, documenting a significant initiative that provided this company with a robust video platform for enterprise-wide live video town hall meetings and other executive communications.
You can read the case study here.
But I got more than the quotes and a reference that solidified the case study. Our customer gave me fuel for an entirely separate success story.
It turns out that video has been so useful, and the platform so stable, that the company’s workforce has taken the initiative to use video to make their jobs easier. Here are a couple of the examples he shared with me:
- Human Resources now provides training using video-on-demand rather than live webcasts. This effort has reduced the strain on the HR team while making training more flexible for new hires.
- Members of work groups and other teams adopted video as a primary means of collaboration, especially for geographically-disbursed members. Video connects these team members personally, eliminates time-consuming and confusing email threads, decreases response times, and makes the entire team more effective.
And these are just two examples. How is your company collaborating? Are you still using email when user-generated video would be much more effective and efficient? Can video on demand replace live webcasts creating new efficiencies within your organization?
Video, whether a live town hall meeting or a recorded training session, offers the power to transform organizations through better, faster communication and collaboration.
